### Our Commitment to High-End Quality

**Published:** January 13, 2025 | **Author:** April Pawling | **Section:** General
**URL:** https://www.penskevehicleservices.com/blog/commitment-to-high-end-quality/.md

Meticulous Approach to Detail

At Penske Vehicle Services, our commitment to high-end quality is the foundation of everything we do.

Our capabilities extend beyond what OEMs can typically achieve in their production process, particularly in specialized tasks and customer-selected upgrades like paint applications and vehicle retrofits.

Penske’s meticulous approach to detail and delivering results ensures that every vehicle leaving our facility meets the highest quality standards.

Detail and Precision for Consistent Results

We are known for taking on tasks that go beyond the standard manufacturing process. Our ability to handle low-volume, custom jobs, as an extension of OEMs, with precision has earned us a reputation for excellence.

For example, when OEM plants are not equipped to apply tu-tone paint applications or unique painted stripe packages, vehicles are sent to our production plant where we carefully disassemble, prep, mask and paint the vehicle, ensuring it leaves our facility in perfect condition.

Proven Processes From Concept to Completion

Our quality control stations are positioned throughout the process, from inbound inspection to post-paint inspection, guaranteeing that every detail is scrutinized and perfected.

We follow a strict 8D process for continuous improvement, where if an issue arises, it is contained, analyzed and prevented from recurring, ensuring that our customers never have to go through warranty claims. This commitment to zero-defect delivery sets us apart in the industry.

Our approach starts with a thorough proof of concept, followed by a detailed plan that outlines the necessary resources, capacity and risk mitigation strategies. This disciplined process ensures that every project is executed flawlessly. When vehicles arrive at Penske, they go through a methodical inbound process where Quality Technicians assess the condition of the vehicle identifying and documenting defects or non-compliance issues. The inbound quality process concludes with high resolution photos of every vehicle.

On the mechanical side, technicians follow comprehensive protocol to ensure that all components are properly connected, and torque requirements are accurate and recorded. A final quality control inspection, often involving a test drive, ensures that the work has been performed to the highest standard.

Penske Vehicle Services also performs retrofits, end of line repairs, and pre-production builds, all with the same dedication to quality.

Dedicated Team and Culture

The success of PVS is deeply rooted in our team. We believe in hiring individuals who are passionate about quality and details, and we invest in their growth through rigorous internal training with senior team members who know a thing or two about aesthetics.

This training is not just about skill development; it’s about instilling the Penske culture of putting the customer first and delivering excellence at every stage. Our team of professionals takes immense pride in their work, and this dedication shines through in the quality of the vehicles we deliver.

Penske Helps a Large Automotive OEM Stand Apart from the Competition

Client: Automotive OEM

In the competitive automotive industry, a large original equipment manufacturer (OEM) encountered a strategic challenge: They wanted to expand the appeal of their luxury vehicle without undertaking a major capital investment.

To do this, the company partnered with Penske Vehicle Services to engineer an innovative solution. The objective was to introduce a specialized paint option, which required precision, minimal disruption to the assembly plant and zero capital.

Through this collaboration, Penske developed a groundbreaking refinish paint application process that could seamlessly integrate into post-assembly production.

Results:

The development of a new paint color and process to set the product apart from others. The product is sent for optional new paint treatment after assembly is finished but before customer delivery, avoiding any disruption to the operational flow.

Background:

Enhance the luxury of the product without operational disruption or capital investment.

How we did it:

After leaving the assembly plant, the finished vehicles go to Penske Vehicle Services in Troy, Michigan. Here, Penske's team of skilled paint technicians meticulously prepares each vehicle, setting the stage for the application team to apply the specialized paint option. Paint options vary depending on client request but can include two-tone color schemes, buried stripe packages, and a multitude of other options. This transformative touch gives the luxury vehicle a one-of-a-kind custom exterior finish.

The quality and craftsmanship attained through Penske's refinish paint process exceed OEM standards. This means prospective buyers can tailor a vehicle to their exact specifications before delivery.

This partnership showcases how strategic relationships can elevate a luxury automotive product and demonstrates the potential for operational enhancements without the burden of significant financial investment.
